LET'S CREATE TOGETHER.
For the first time, the recordings that Christopher Willits used to create an entire album, "Tiger Flower Circle Sun", are available to the public for remixing. This library of 121 samples gives artists a huge palette of possibilities to produce with, and provides a glimpse into the creative process of a visionary artist.
"I've made all of these recordings available to remix in an experiment of public collaboration. I want to create with you here. I want to hear your creative voice improvise with mine. Essentially we are crowdsourcing music which is going to end up as a compilation of remixes, and the best remixes get some generous gifts from the sponsors of this project. Even if you are not an artist or know how to remix something, the recordings I've shared will give you insight into how I created this album that I love. "
Willits' favorite remixes will be recognized by Ghostly International, SoundCloud (free Pro account), Ableton Live (free Ableton Live software license), and free compilation of remixes will be released by Willits' record label / community-building project Overlap. Over the last 10 years Christopher Willits has been at the forefront of innovative electronic music, creating unique soundscapes with guitars and software he designs. In over 20 releases both solo and in collaboration with artists such as Ryuichi Sakamoto, Taylor Deupree, Zach Hill and Matmos he has cultivated a vast diversity of creative sound that has inspired many.

"Tiger Flower Circle Sun" was released in the summer of 2010 by Ghostly International. The release marked Willits' 2nd large-scale exploration of avant-pop structures- integrating catchy hooks, walls of lush vocal harmony, and afro-latin percussion with his trademark guitar processing.
Christopher Willits is an artist- a musician, guitarist, producer, photographer, filmmaker all-in-one. Willits occupies a unique corner of the electronic-art-music universe, hovering above the intersection of electronic production’s nuts and bolts, new media art, and a wide-open creative mind. “I am a conduit of the process, a kind of gardener,” he says. “I simply imagine, intend, and do the work laid before me.” Willits’ tireless intending and doing and working has produced 20 albums in 10 years—solo and in collaboration with artists including Ryuichi Sakamoto, Matmos, Zach Hill, and Taylor Deupree—and an organic, multi-faceted sound that expands like the vines of an electro-acoustic kudzu plant. Christopher Willits is a teacher, a label owner (the experimental hub Overlap.org), a meditator, a tech geek, a visual/new media artist, and virtuosic musician in one. In other words, there’s no one out there quite like him.
